Amazon Prime Air Drone Delivery testing has hit the U.S. Well, sort of. This video captured by Jason Johnson on periscope shows the drone delivering a package. All this took place at MARS 2017 in Palm Springs, California. MARS stands for Machine learning, home Automation, Robotics, and Space exploration, and it is a private invite-only event

What Does This Show?

This package delivery demo has shown Amazon’s progression. Skeptics have discussed the numerous hurdles for this kind of delivery service to pan out, yet this U.S. based delivery, as short as it was, still shows promise. The package delivered was apparently a sunscreen, and it was merely just a demo.

Amazon Prime Air Drone DeliveryIt seems like Amazon has an arsenal of drones for different payloads. Their drones are projected to fly at speeds of up to 50 mph with a 5 lb. payload capacity. If shipping goes as smooth as this video, then drone deliveries will be a new standard in no time.

Amazon Prime Air Drone Delivery This short demonstration was an insight into amazon’s potential here in the U.S, and it is a small step towards the future of the shipping industry.
